Former Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has exclaimed that he is feeling positive about his international career despite being sidelined in the last Scotland game.

Armstrong has been called up in previous squads but was not selected against Russia and San Marino.

The Southampton star is due to feature for Scotland's clash against Cyprus and will be ready to step up and do what he can to impress the coach. 

The 27-year-old had gotten a breath of fresh air when he signed with Cherries but he would later admit that it hasn't been the easier time for him considering the fact that the club is st the brink of relegation.

The tough sailing in the Premier League would prove to be likewise with Scotland but he has cited that he will not give up hope of playing for his native country.

“I always enjoy coming away with Scotland, seeing old faces. Playing for your country is always an honour, so I’m always happy to be among the group," he told the Scottish Sun.

“I don’t think I would ever turn down the opportunity to come away with Scotland.

“Playing for your country is the best thing in football for me.”
