Everton's Gomes discharged from hospital after successful surgery

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has been discharged from hospital after a successful surgery to repair a fracture-dislocation to his right ankle.

Gomes suffered the injury during Sunday’s match with Tottenham.

The Portugal international will now face a long road to full recovery.

A message posted on Everton’s official Twitter account read: “Following a successful operation yesterday, Andre Gomes has now been discharged from hospital and will continue his rehabilitation under the care of our medical team.”

It remains unclear how long Gomes will be sidelined for, however, Everton are confident that he can be nursed back to full health and into their starting XI.
