Verona coach denies Balotelli received racist abuse

Hellas Verona coach Ivan Juric has insisted that he didn’t hear any racial abuse directed to Brescia striker Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli striker threatened to leave the pitch on Sunday after he claimed that he had heard racist chants before coming back after a convincing with both set of players to score a wonder goal.

Speaking to Sky Italia after the game Juric said:  "I'm not afraid to say it, nothing happened today. No racists chants, nothing at all.

"Racist abuse disgusts me, I get called a filthy gypsy all the time. But there was nothing today, not even a little bit, nothing. To say otherwise is a lie. He's a fantastic player but where were the racist chants?"

Match Suspended

Balotelli booted the ball into the crowd when Verona had taken a lead then tried to leave the pitch with the match being suspended for minutes before a message was read out from the stadium loudspeaker.

Balotelli himself gave a statement thanking his teammates and the Verona player for the solidarity. He further thanked the fans from across the globe who stood by him and lambasted the racists.

Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola told AFP he was backing his player. "We are with Mario and we are against all forms of racism. Racists are just ignorant.”
