Matteo Guendouzi put in a man of the match shift in the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa as Arsenal manager Unai Emery rained down praise on the midfielder.
Guendouzi joined Arsenal from French Ligue 2 side Lorient last season and is quickly becoming a regular starter and an heir to Cesc Fabregas who the Gunners have struggled to replace since leaving for Barcelona. At the tender age of 20, Guendouzi rose up to the challenge after Ainsley Maitland-Niles was sent off to inspire Arsenal to a win.
Speaking in a post-match press conference, Emery heaped praise on Guendouzi, "With Matteo last year he progressed when he came here. I like that spirit. He has talent but above all his attitude, energy, commitment and behavior.
"He's one player who is angry when he's not playing. I like that. When they are angry they're asking you to play. When you decide to let them play they know they have a commitment to do all we needed. He is improving. I want to be calm with him, humble and continue improving and growing up with us."
