Mourinho call on CL exit not a death sentence

Mourinho call on CL exit not a death sentence

Jose Mourinho quickly reminded Manchester United fans of Sir Alex Ferguson’s failures after Sevilla knocked them out of Champions League.

Ben Yedder double gave the La Liga side a lead at Old Trafford and Romelu Lukaku’s late goal wasn’t enough to mount a comeback. United were favorites to progress to the last-eight but there will be huge question marks over Mourinho’s approach to the two legs, where United had just four shots on target.

However, Mourinho was keen to also remind angry supporters that the Red Devils have come unstuck in the past when he knocked the club out of the competition at the last-16 stage with Porto and Real Madrid.

“I’ve sat in this chair twice before, with Porto [2004], Man Utd out, with Real Madrid [2013] – Man Utd out, so this is nothing new for this football club. Despite his best efforts to deflect from the result, the pressure on Mourinho will mount if United don’t win the FA Cup this term,” said Mourinho.

Manchester United will host Brighton on March 17th at Old Trafford stadium.
