Tusker’s Ugandan target turns down juicy deal due to religious beliefs

Gift Ali has turned down a ‘very good offer’ from one of Kenya Premier League's most successful clubs, Tusker FC.

After prolonged talks with the club and even quitting Police FC, the player says playing for Tusker will go against his religious beliefs.

- I wish to confirm to you that on or around December 2017, I received a very good offer from Kenya Premier League club, Tusker FC, which after consultations with my former club Police and manager, decided to accept, Ali posted.

Family pressure

The midfielder notes that his family was against the move and after consultations; he opted out and remains a free agent as he figures out another plan.

-However following further consultations with my immediate family in the following days, we both agreed that mainly owing to my religious beliefs, I should not take up that particular opportunity.

Ali was expected to fill the void left after the club parted ways with Kenyan international Humphrey Mieno.
