Confidence and Belief will determine our fate

Confidence and Belief will determine our fate

Without belief nothing is possible.

The Harambee Stars' belief level is close to fourty percent if you ask me. They still have 60 percent to fill up their confidence and belief tank.

Head coach Adel Amrouche has done his fair bit to try lift the players' morale higher, because he knows that they suffer from lack of self-confidence.

The Nigeria result in March sure did help in some way.

Our players are not bad footballers, we just do not give them any reason to believe in themselves and their ability and that is what fails us.

For example, we do not have Arnold Origi and Dennis Oliech for the Nigeria clash, but you can ask if we do not have players that can fill in for them when they are unavailable.

We do.

However, their level of belief is lower than that of the Oliech's and Origi's and that is why there is so much instability when they are not there.

We can beat Nigeria and Malawi but do we believe we can and we will?

For the local players, belief is built in friendly matches, which is why missing out on playing Ghana was a huge blow to the team. If we had played them and won by any margin, you can imagine the confidence levels in camp.

Our players have seen the Nigerians drawing with Mexico away from home. Will that affect the way they look at their opponents? Maybe it will, but should not.

Our players can take heart in the fact that we were 60 seconds away from beating Nigeria at their back-yard. That should be what Amrouche is drumming into his players' minds before the next two games.

Can we win the two games, Yes. Will it be difficult to do so? Very much. Do we believe we can win? I hope we do.
