TEAM NEWS: Onyango in goal as McKinstry parades his team for the first game in Uganda

John McKinstry has named captain Dennis Onyango in goal in what will be his first home game since taking over the reins as the head coach of the Uganda football team.

Uganda who held Burkina Faso to a goalless draw away from home last week welcomes Malawi at the Namboole Stadium on Sunday with his squad comprising of some known players who have shown for Uganda in recent assignments.

Protecting Onyango will be Motherwell defender Kizito Mugabi who will partner Murushid Jjuuko at the heart of defence as Azam’s Nico Wakiro Wadada and TP Mazembe’s Joseph Benson Ochaya manning the right and left full-backs respectively.

Former Gor Mahia player Khalid Aucho is joined in the midfield by Chicago Fire’s Mike Azira and Shakhter Karagandy’s William. 

The trio of Al Ittihad’s Emmanuel Arnold Okwi, Vipers’ Fahad Bayo and Faruku Miya who features for Turkey’s top flight side Konyaspor will lead the home team attack.
