Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka had a career nightmare after scoring an own goal to hand FC Barcelona victory.
The Slava Prague striker started in last night’s Group F Champions League game at home in the Czech Republic and would not imagine the horror end where his side lost 2-1.
Lionel Messi broke the deadlock inside three minutes and history to become the first player to score in 15 consecutive seasons of the competition.
Olayinka’s teammate Jan Boril found the leveler early in the second half - and it seemed liked the Czech side would hold on to a draw or sneak a later winner.
But a nightmare followed for the 23-year-old Nigerian...
In what is one of the most bizarre goals you’ll ever see, a Messi free-kick landed for Luis Suarez who headed from an impossible angle and the ball bounced off Olayinka’s chest and into the net to hand Barca the winner. Though it looked more of a deflection, the goal got official marked as Olayinka’s own goal.
The result left Slavia bottom of the group with two losses and a draw. Up next for Olayinka’s side is the reverse trip to the Nou Camp on 5 November.
