Messi sets new record in Barcelona's ugly win

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi set a new record on Wednesday night in his side's 2-1 win over Slavia Prague in a Champions League encounter.

Barcelona topped Group F with a 2-1 win over hosts Slavia in a match played on Wednesday night. The Argentine put Barca ahead in the third minute after being set up by Arthur. However, Praha leveled the scores in the second half through Jan Bořil but unfortunately Peter Olayinka's own goal gifted Barcelona the win. Messi's goal marked his 133rd in the UEFA's premier club competition since making his debut against Shakhtar Donetsk in 2004.

Messi became the first player to score in 15 consecutive Champions League seasons and has now scored against 33 different Champions League opponents. The Barcelona captain is still one short of Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs' record of scoring in 16 different Champions League seasons.
