Ahead of their weekend clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri suffered an injury while on international duty with Italy.
Emerson lasted only seven minutes of Italy’s Euro 2020 qualifier at Finland on Sunday night as he limped off with what appeared to be a thigh strain. The left-back has been preferred by Frank Lampard ahead of Marcos Alonso and was replaced by Alessandro Florenzi in Italy's 2-1 win over Finland.
Speaking in a press conference after the victory against Finland, Italy manager Roberto Mancini handed Chelsea some hope as he provided an injury update on the defender, "It was nothing serious, he stopped to ensure it didn't get any worse.
"The defense did well, as Armando Izzo and Francesco Acerbi were playing together for the first time, but Alessandro Florenzi also impressed on the left, considering he was the only option we had remaining."
