Who are the coaches being linked with the vacant Harambee Stars job

Following the departure of Frenchman Sebastien Migne on Monday, Football Kenya Federation are in the hunt for a coach to take over the reins of the national men football team.

A series of names have been thrown around by fans with many having the thought that the Federation should go for another foreigner this despite calls from a section of them rooting for a local coach.

But which names have been thrown around to fill the void left by Migne?

Francis Kimanzi

Being Migne’s assistant, Kimanzi should automatically assume the role albeit on a temporary basis. Having resigned from his Mathare United job, Kimanzi stands a good chance of overseeing the team more so after working with the current group at the 2019 AFCON.

He has managed Stars with success previously and it is a task that he would fancy given that he is the most qualified coach currently in the country.

He is expected to take charge of the team in the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda, 2021 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers and 2022 World Cup qualifiers should FKF take long in naming a new coach.

He won the Kenyan Premier League title with Mathare United in 2008 and led Kenya to the final of the 2008 CECAFA and had a good run during the 2010 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.

Adel Amouche

Has ruled himself out of the job citing reasons of FKF reluctance in paying his arrears. He is said to be on the verge of inking a deal with the Botswana national team but should that fail to materialize, he would fancy another chance to manage the national team having created a good rapport with the fans and players during his tint here between 2013 and 2014.

Others being linked with the job include former Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee, Dylan Kerr and Frank Nuttal who previously coached Gor Mahia, Stuart Baxter who was in charge of South Africa at the 2019 AFCON and Burkina Faso head coach Paulo Duarte.
