Newcastle United have broken their own transfer record twice their year after the signing of Brazilian striker Joelinton for a fee of £40million on a six-year deal.
Joelinton had a decent campaign last season, scoring 11 goals in 35 games for Hoffenheim, with seven of those coming in the Bundesliga. He started his career at Brazilian side Sport Recife before moving to Germany in 2015.
Newcastle had broken their long-standing transfer record when they signed Paraguay playmaker Miguel Almiron from MLS side Atlanta United in January for £20m.
Speaking after putting pen to paper Joelinton had this to say, "I'm really happy to be here. I know it's a large investment that the club has made in me, and that comes with a huge responsibility. I'm highly motivated and hope to give back on the pitch."
