Tammy Abraham ready to rival Giroud at Chelsea

Tammy Abraham is ready to battle Olivier Giroud and Mitchy Batshuayi for a starting role at Chelsea next season.

The 21-year-old has never nailed down a starting role at the club, despite successful loans spells away from the London club.

Abraham now feels he can earn a place in Frank Lampard's team next season, despite competition from Olivier Giroud and Mitchy Batshuayi.

"I've been here since the age of six and there's been no better opportunity to graft and work hard for a starting spot and a place in the team for a massive club such as Chelsea," Abraham told Sky Sports.

"With the new manager in charge, all things look possible, so it gives the young lads and a lot of the players the chance to believe.

"You can already see in pre-season and even in training, he comes to speak to us and give us instructions on what to do, what to improve on, what he likes.

"It's always good to have a manager who speaks to players, not just the senior players but the younger players as well. It's a massive opportunity for us."

The Englishman starred for Aston Villa in the 2017/18 season, scoring 21 goals as the Villa were promoted back to the Premier League.

Lampard's return to the club has given young players hope that they can finally get a chance to shine, with the former Derby County manager known for his management of young players.
