Former Arsenal star Marc Overmars has advised Arsenal to ditch Mesut Ozil and make a move for Ajax star Hakim Ziyech.
The Dutchman, who is currently director of football at Ajax, believes Ziyech will add a lot more to the side compared to the German, who has become a shadow of himself in recent months.
“I am a bit surprised that it is still so quiet around Hakim. I think he has played better every year and his statistics are exceptionally good," he said while speaking to Voetbal International.
“Many clubs are increasingly looking at that. They look more at the numbers than at what he shows and what is happening around him,"
“I think Hakim Ziyech is better than Mesut Ozil. I would tell Arsenal: sell him and you will get Hakim for half the price. But they didn't listen to me. So it could just be that he stays with Ajax,"
Ziyech shone for Ajax last season, scoring 21 goals and 24 assists, helping his side clinch the Eredivisie title as well as come to touching distance of the Champions League.
Ozil, on the other hand, had a discouraging campaign and fell down the pecking order at the club under Unai Emery.
