Despite a lot of noise surrounding his future at Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Paul Pogba is in contention to become the future captain of the club.
Pogba impressed during a 45-minute second-half showing against Perth Glory at the Optus Stadium on the first leg of United’s pre-season tour of Australia when he set up the first goal for Marcus Rashford in a 2-0 win over the A-League side. The Frenchman has been linked with a move back to Juventus and a switch to Real Madrid.
When asked if Pogba would be considered as Antonio Valencia's replacement in the captaincy role, Solskjaer replied: "Yeah. I don't think that needs explaining, we'll discuss that later on." Solskjaer also this week insisted United are under no pressure to sell and, having spoken last season about building his team around Pogba
United are next in action on Wednesday when they return to the Optus Stadium to face Leeds in their second pre-season friendly fixture.
