Liverpool urged to sign Wilfried Zaha as Daniel Sturridge replacement
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, however, Liverpool legend John Aldridge has urged his former club to make a bid for the star.
According to Metro, Arsenal manager Unai Emery has requested funds from the board to go ahead and sign the Ivory Coast international.
The 26-year-old has always put on great displays at Anfield, and Aldridge believes the Reds should make that a more regular occurrence.
“Wilfried Zaha is the one I think he [Klopp] should go for,” he told Independent. “With Daniel Sturridge leaving the club and his huge wages coming off the weekly bill, it opens up the opportunity for Klopp to sign an out-and-out goalscorer who could offer something different if one of the front three is injured or out of form.
“Zaha has given Liverpool some real problems in the last couple of years and Klopp’s ability to turn talents of his type into consistent performers has to make him the kind of player who could thrive at Anfield.”
Despite Zaha's ability and talent, reports suggest that he might not swap a guaranteed starting position at Crystal Palace for the bench at Liverpool.
The Ivorian may have more luck of game time at clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham or Everton if he were to make a move in the summer.
