Manchester United have reportedly launched a £70m bid to sign Ajax Amsterdam central defender Matthijs De Ligt.
According to TalkSPORT, Manchester United have now gotten into pole position, and have met the requests of the player’s agent Mino Raiola.
“Manchester United have launched a £70 million bid for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt,” wrote TalkSPORT this morning.
“That is according to the Mirror, who claim United have moved into pole position for the 19-year-old's signature after agreeing to outbid any club and meet Mino Raiola’s demands for a £350,000-a-week wage and a huge fixer’s fee.
TalkSPORT believes that De Ligt’s move to Barcelona fell through after the Spanish club rejected to reward Raiola with £12 m for his services as the player’s agent.
“Barcelona had been favourites to land the Dutch starlet but they have reportedly refused to pay Raiola's £12 million demand to broker a move to the Nou Camp.
“De Ligt wants to play Champions League football – which United won't have next season – but the Red Devils are pushing hard to land him as they look to rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,” concluded the publication.
