Manchester United hold talks with Monaco youngster
English Premier League giants seem to be angling at boosting their youth ranks with Daily Mail confirming that they were in talks over a proposed move for highly-rated Monaco teenager Hannibal Mejbri.
This comes days after the club is said to have acquired the services of highly rated 14-year-old Norwegian prospect Isak Hansen-Aaroen.
Midfielder Mejbri, 16, has declared he wants to leave Monaco after his father, Lotfi, a former Tunisian footballer, said the relationship with the club had broken down citing a matter of trust.
The family are trying to annul his contract with Monaco which runs until 2021 and there is a chance United could sign him on a free transfer.
However, Monaco will push for compensation as they believe the contract is binding. United was rebuffed in a bid to sign Mejbri back in January.
The spring-haired midfielder has been followed by Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea for the past three seasons.
United, however, hope that their persistence can help convince him he has a greater chance of making the first team at Old Trafford.
