Mount Kenya United players have downed their tools at their training base in City Stadium and have declined to travel to Machakos to honor their Kenyan Premier League clash against Gor Mahia unless their unpaid salaries are settled.

As it stands MKU are set to be handed a walkover and three points awarded to Gor Mahia should they fail to honor the match which will be a massive boost for K'Ogalo in their title charge. According to sources, the players have not been paid for six months a situation which has adversely affected the team as they currently anchor the foot of the table.

MKU coach, Melis Medo recently shed some light on the financial crisis at the club after their 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz on Monday, "I really don't know, we have some issues and hopefully things will change, when you have 10 players houses locked it is very difficult, you cannot motivate at this point but yet they still come for games."

The match against Gor Mahia was set to kick off at 4 PM on Thursday 25th April.
