Ndejje coach explains why he raided fans at half time in Kirinya draw
Ndejje University head coach Raymond Komakech was involved in an ugly scene at half time as his club drew 0-0 with Kirinya Jinja SS on Tuesday.
Instead of heading to the dressing room to address his players at half time, the bulky coach went straight to a group of fans who appeared to be throwing abusive words at him throughout the 45 minutes.
The incident lasted the entire half time as Police tried to separate the aggressive coach from the fans who were slowly growing wild.
“I didn’t want to fight the fans, I had just gone to advice some fans to leave because they have been banned from coming to the pitch,” he defended himself.
“In the community we are in, there are some fellas who have been banned from coming to the stadium because of their own security, behaviour and things of that nature. So, when I tried to take to them, they became a bit uncontrollable.
“But we try to remind them that we need them alive because if a scenario comes up and they’re injured or something bad happens, then it is not good for the club.”
The coach was later separated from the fans and returned to his bench before the second half kicked off.
Ndejje are 13th on the 16-team table with only seven points from nine games.
