Anthony Martial’s goal against Newcastle United in the remarkable 3-2 comeback victory came at a £8.7M cost for Manchester United.

Martial scored his 25th goal in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Newcastle that sparked a great comeback in a match played at Old Trafford on Saturday 6th October. The goal cost United the huge amount of money because according to the contract he signed, his former club AS Monaco inserted a clause that would mean The Red Devils add £8.7M when he reaches the 25 goal tally.

Martial has impressed in his recent Manchester United appearances after a dismal 2017-2018 season. Martial’s contract expires at the end of the season and worryingly for United seven other players contracts end at the same time. The seven include Antonio Valencia, David de Gea, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira, Matteo Darmian and James Wilson.
