Luiz criticizes Chelsea's performance after draw to West Ham
Chelsea defender David Luiz has lambasted his team's performance after their disappointing 0-0 draw to West Ham United on Sunday 23rd September noting that they were too slow and lacked creativity.
The Blues enjoyed huge dominance in the game against West Ham, having 72% of possession but failed to muster a goal. Luiz has made a comeback to Chelsea's starting 11 after spending a larger part of last season on the bench and has helped the side to three clean sheets in the league. The former Paris Saint Germain defender has started all six league games for Chelsea this season.
Speaking to the club’s official portal, Luiz blasted Chelsea’s performance, “Of course we are disappointed. We didn’t play a fantastic game, we didn’t create a lot. It was too slow, moving the ball to create the gaps or our movements without the ball, and that is why we couldn’t score.”
Luiz also prepared Chelsea to expect the sort of defensive game West Ham displayed, “We know that many teams now are going to play against us this way, with a low block and trying to play on the counter-attack. So there was not a lot of space but it is up to us to try to find a solution.”
