Stanbic bank takes over Uganda Cup title rights

Stanbic bank Uganda has taken over the naming rights of the local premier knockout competition - The Uganda Cup.

The banking giants and local football federation, FUFA, unveiled the sponsorship worth three hundred million shillings on Tuesday morning at the bank's premises. 

The tournament will immediately be renamed 'Stanbic Uganda Cup'. "We are proud to have found a partner with such a long & proud sporting heritage," FUFA president Eng. Moses Magogo said during the unveiling at Nakasero. 

"The Uganda Cup is steeped in history having been played since 1971 and as FUFA we are excited to have found a sponsor who appreciates the history scale of the competition." 

The function was attended by the Stanbic’s Head of Marketing and Communications Daniel Ogong and Communications Manager Cathy Adengo. 

FUFA had announced a fifty million shillings cash prize for the winner of this year's competition which is a 7-fold increase from the previous prize. The competition is heading to the round of 32.
