How University Football league winners shared money prize
Over eight and a half million shillings were splashed in cash prizes in the recently concluded University football League.
Uganda Martyrs University defeated Makerere University Business School 2-0 to clinch their maiden trophy and also denied the latter a chance to win the third.
The Martyrs scooped home a total of two and a half million shillings on top of a trophy.
The awards and league was solely sponsored by Nile breweries Limited. MUBS walked home with a million less while second runners-up, Nkumba, earned one.
Remaining teams that failed to reach the podium collected half a million each. Uganda Christian University and Kampala were awarded an additional 500,000 for their fair play and best fans.
The most valuable player, Moses Kifumba, the best coach, Charles Ayiekoh, top scorer, Fred Gwoto, best goalie, Julus Sekyewa and best tutors, Tonny Ssali and Joseph Ssekandi (Uganda Martyrs) picked 250,000.
