Richard Makumbi dumps Mbarara City for KPL club

Richard Makumbi has joined Kenyan Premier League club Western Stima on a two year deal.

The club officially announced the new developments on Wednesday 13 September after the midweek match in Kisumu.

Makumbi did not appear on Mbarara City FC's bench despite his name reading on the match day team sheet as the team played BUL FC on Tuesday 12 September in an opening league match.

His assistant Vialli Bainomugisha was hesitant to reveal the coach's whereabouts but later concocted a story that Makumbi had delayed due to a heavy jam on Kampala-Jinja highway.

Our sources revealed that the coach had left the club for greener pastures.

-Changes at Western Stima technical bench as Richard Makumbi from Uganda takes over as headcoach, Western Stima announced. 

A close source to the club informed that the coach has been handed a two year contract with the electricity suppliers but his first mission is to save the club from relegation. 

The coach recently signed a one year contract extension with Mbarara City FC after guiding them to the league.

He recently attended a Caf B coaching course awaiting results from the African body.

Makumbi takes over from Henry Omino. Western Stima FC is languishing in the bottom pack of the league with only 21 points from 23 games in the eighteen-team league.

The veteran coach is well known for promoting teams from the second division, the Fufa Big League. 

In his career, he has helped a record twelve teams to the Uganda Premier League.
