Ghana contenders in 2014?

You can argue that if there is any African nation that has the capability to win the 2014 World Cup, it is Ghana.

The Ghanians have been in robust form in the last couple of years and have the players to boot that can ensure they compete at the very top of the tree in world football.

Upfront they have the experienced faces like Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Asamoah, in midfield, their pedigree is unarguable with the likes of Michel Essien, Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari while at the back they have the no-nonsense figures. like John Mensah.

What makes this Ghana side very good to me though is the fact that they have a young crop of players that are threatening to take over the world.

The likes of the Ayew brothers, Christian Atsu of Chelsea, the Wakaso's and others are as good as any young players in the world.

So why should they not win the World Cup?

My view is that they will be favourites for the semi-finals just like they were in South Africa and if they get a good group in the early stages, they could as well achieve that without much fuss.

And some luck.

The Ivory Coast have a good side too and will be hard to beat with Yaya Toure in his current form, but I do not see an African side as complete as Ghana at the moment.
