Jesse Were would have been a good option for the Harambee Stars

Yes, he may not have the best chance- goal rate in the world, but Jesse Were provides more in attack than most strikers in the Premier League do.

And not because I am a Tusker fan.

I have no idea why head coach Adel Amrouche did not pick him for the Stars, because I just feel that he could have done a good job for us.

Thing with Were is that he can play alone upfront without a fuss, which is the system we use in the national team.

Also, he has probably the highest work rate of any striker in the Kenyan Premier League. He works very hard to get into good positions and score goals and that is a big plus for him.

Added to that, he is a bully.

He offers the physical side of the game that no striker in the current set-up does and he gets in defenders' way with his height and strength.

Added to that, he is also a good assist maker and you can take that from his displays for Tusker FC in the first half of the season.

In a week where we need to give the Nigerian and Malawian defenders a headache, he would have been perfect and a great foil for Dennis Oliech when available.

That is my view.

Regardless, we hope that the players in camp will do the country proud and produce a performance that we all want. A winning one. Good luck Harambee Stars.
