Ole Gunnar names Man United's five leaders

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said the club has 'different types' of leaders, as they prepare to face Liverpool on Sunday evening.

Solskjaer named Harry Maguire his new club captain following Ashley Young's departure to Inter Milan on Friday.

Maguire has been at the club for less than six months, but has worn the captain's armband on numerous occasions in the absence of Young.

Speaking after handing him the armband, Solskjaer said it was not a hard decision to make him club captain since he has shown leadership qualities for the short while he has been at the club.

“He’s had a great impact and he’s a great personality," Solskjaer told the club’s official website about Maguire.

"He’s a leader - we’ve got leaders in the group, different types of leaders. We’ve got Marcus Rashford, who’s a young boy showing leadership skills.

"We’ve got Scott McTominay, David De Gea and Juan Mata, they’ve been around for so long now. Harry has come in and he’s playing every game, he’s fit and he’s leading that dressing room.”

United will, however, be without one of the five leaders during the Liverpool clash in Marcus Rashford, after he failed to recover from an injury he picked in midweek against Wolves.

In his absence, Antony Martial and Mason Greenwood will lead the lines at Anfield.
