The FA Cup 2019: All you need to know including why all matches will be delayed by a minute

The Football Association, FA, has announced that all Emirates FA Cup third-round fixtures will be delayed by one minute in support of the 'Heads Up' campaign.

The move is aimed at encouraging fans across the world to ‘Take A Minute’ to think about looking after their mental health.

This means all the 32 matches (excluding replays) will kick off one minute later than their traditionally scheduled broadcast, for example, 22:01, 15.46 and 20:31 GMT.

“Whilst delaying kick-off times by 60 seconds is a simple idea, it provides a powerful platform for us and our Heads Up charity partners to deliver a really important message on mental health," said Mark Bullingham, the FA’s chief executive.

"We know that men, in particular, can be reluctant to talk about the subject, so it is important that we use football as a vehicle to stress the importance of mental fitness,” he added.

The organizers hope the initiative will raise awareness on why it is important to look after our mental health, with the 60 seconds just part of the whole plan of improving an individual's health.

The third-round draw will be done on Monday, December 2, starting at 7 pm (11 pm EAT).

Manchester City are the defending champions.

The ties are scheduled for the weekend of January 4 and 5.

Arsenal are the most successful club in the competition's history, lifting the cup 13 times.
