Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has hinted at the possibility of playing with a false number nine when they host Aston Villa on Wednesday night in an English Premier League match.
The Blues suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to London rivals West Ham on Saturday, and Lampard's charges will be eager to bounce back.
Chelsea seemed lost without their main man Tammy Abraham up front, and even though Lampard is optimistic he will be back soon, he has toyed with the idea of playing Christian Pulisic as a striker.
The American played the role in the last 20 minutes of their clash against the Hammers, with Callum Hudson-Odoi introduced to play on the wing.
"We’ll see," he said in response to a question on whether the American can offer a temporal solution upfront.
"He does have an ability to run behind the line and to be sharp in central areas which will naturally get him more goals,"
"I am not going to say right now if that is the solution, but we will see as we go forward," he added.
Lampard, however, has the likes of Olivier Giroud, who started on Saturday for the first time this season, as well as Belgian Mitch Batshuayi to call on.
The loss, their second in a row, saw Chelsea miss an opportunity to go above defending Champions Manchester City, who drew 2-2 away to Newcastle on Saturday.
Leicester City won against Everton to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool and open a six-point gap against the Blues.
