Manchester City will travel to face Liverpool on Sunday without their number one keeper Ederson after he failed to shake off a muscle injury in good time.
The Brazilian was withdrawn on Wednesday during the Champions League match against Atalanta as a precaution following a discomfort and with the Liverpool tie in mind, but Pep Guardiola has confirmed he will not be able to play.
The Premier League's top two sides are set to clash at Anfield on Sunday evening, in a match that could have a bearing on the title race.
Liverpool are atop the standings on 31 points, six ahead of their weekend opponents, and will be hoping to extend their lead at home.
Claudio Bravo, who replaced Ederson in Italy before being sent off will stand in against The Reds.
"Ederson is not able to play. I don’t know how long he will be out for. Sunday, he cannot play," said the Spanish boss.
"We have another top keeper. Claudio Bravo can do it, too. We won the Carabao Cup thanks to Claudio. He's an exceptional keeper.
"Why should I doubt any player in my team? Why do you ask these questions?
"You have to respect this guy, he has won trophies and the Copa America. In his first season, the team was not at the top level,"
Liverpool and City are seen as the frontrunners for the title, having pushed each other last season before the latter won it.
