Manchester City will miss the services of up to six players when they travel to face Premier League leaders Liverpool in a crunch fixture on Sunday evening.
The defending champions have been playing catchup this campaign, and are six points off their weekend opponents.
The Reds are unbeaten in this season, with their record soiled by a draw against Manchester United last month.
Ahead of the tie, coach Pep Guardiola's headache will be the missing stars from his team, even though they have enough depth to cope with the shortage.
Leroy Sane, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, Oleksandr Zinchenko, David Silva and goalkeeper Ederson are all doubts for the match.
Ederson was replaced at half-time in midweek during the Champions League match against Atalanta, with Guardiola tight-lipped afterward on the extent of his injury.
David Silva was withdrawn during City's 2-1 win over Southampton last week with a suspected muscle injury, which should keep him out at least until after the international break.
Rodri too pulled out of the team's match against Atalanta two weeks ago with a hamstring injury and is expected back after the international break.
Oleksandr Zinchenko will be out for quite some time, having suffered a knee injury that saw him undergo surgery.
Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are out at least until early next year, as they continue rehabilitation following a similar anterior cruciate ligament tear.
