🙆🏻‍♂️ Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane wary of the competition in the midfield

Republic of Ireland international Conor Hourihane exclaimed that he is concerned with potentially falling out of favour in Dean Smith's side according to the Irish Examiner.

Hourihane scored in Villa's thrilling 5-1 victory over Norwich City after he made his return to the starting eleven after spending some time on the bench.

However, the Irishman believes that as long as he keeps putting in the work and proving himself, there is always an opportunity to be starting games.

Hourihane is regarded as one of the most valuable players in the squad who bring depth into the midfield and shouldn't be much concern for him despite the increasing competition.

“The fear of failure, and not making it, and having to go back home and being that nearly man. It’s still there now, even though I’m playing international level and playing in the Premier League,” Hourihane said.

“Still to this day, I’m always worried about that person behind me. That’s what drives me on every day.”

Villa signed Douglas Luiz and Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba during the summer transfer in order to bring in some healthy competition in the midfield which pushes the players to work harder for their spots.

Hourihane was called up the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifiers and there is no doubt that he won't keep his place as he has made his name known in the Premier League.

The Villans will take on Brighton & Hove Albion who recently beat Tottenham Hotspur and both sides will be going into the fixture with confidence in hopes to secure those much-needed three points.
