Aston Villa have officially signed Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Manchester City for a fee of approximately £15 million making him their tenth summer signing.
The 21-year-old initially joined City from Vasco da Gama back in 2017 but never featured in a single fixture for the Premier League champions.
Luiz spent the last two seasons on loan at Girona, managing to make 46 appearances for the La Liga outfit.
According to BBC Sport reports, the youngster's request for a work permit at City was met with rejection in August 2018 and he rejoined Girona for the 2018/19 campaign.
Villa have told that his transfer is also subject to a work permit and it takes the spending for their Premier League return to more than £100million.
"Douglas is an extremely talented young player with an outstanding pedigree who I am sure will fit nicely into our style and system of play," said Villa manager Dean Smith.
Luiz was voted as the Player of the Tournament at the Toulon tournament in June 2019 as Brazil's U21 team went on to win the competition.
