🦁 🔝 EPL top six: Completed transfers so far

22 Jul 2019, 19:30

With slightly less than three weeks left to the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season, clubs continue strengthening their sides in readiness for the action.

The interest is normally on the top sides across Europe, where the top clubs compete for the creme de la creme in football.

We look at the Premier League's top club and the businesses they've so far conducted.

1. Manchester City 🏆

Manchester City has a near-perfect squad and need not add players if none is leaving. It is for this reason that Pep Guardiola has not dipped his hand in City's transfer pocket.

The champions have only made two signings so far, with Rodri signing from Atletico Madrid for a fee of £62.5 million.

City also re-signed left-back Angelino from PSV, after they excised their buy-back clause, paying a fee in the region of £5.3 million.

Perhaps one position that City need to fill in is the gap left by departing captain Vincent Kompany, who joined Anderlecht.

2. Liverpool 🔴

Just like the champions, the runners-up don't need much of an overhaul provided Jurgen Klopp maintains the same squad that won him the Champions League.

The Reds have made one signing so far, acquiring the services of young Dutch defender Sepp van der Berg from PEC Zwolle, costing a meager £1.3 million.

3. Chelsea FC 🔵

Stamford Bridge is very quiet, for the obvious reasons of the transfer ban that will see club unable to sign new players for the next two seasons.

The club has however turned Mateo Kovacic loan transfer into a permanent signing. The only other new arrival is Christian Pulisic, who was signed in January before being loaned out to Borussia Dortmund.

4. Tottenham Hotspur 🐓

The Champions League finalists did not make any signing last season but opened their transfer kitty with two signings with a total cost of £65 million.

First, it was Leeds United's Jack Clarke, who signed for a fee of £10, then their record signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, who cost £55.

5. Arsenal 🤔

Arsenal have been linked with a host of players in England and the rest of Europe. From Zaha, Saliba, to Celtic's Tierny, but nothing has been coming so far. The only arrival at the Emirates is an 18-year-old Brazillian forward Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano in Sao Paulo.

Reports, however, indicate they will complete Saliba's signing soon, with Zaha's valuation still high for the London club.

6. Manchester United 😈

United have been relatively busy in the transfer business. Ole Gunnar first signed Daniel James from Swansea at a cost of £15 million, then signed one of the most exciting young talents in English football in Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50 million.
