Chelsea have axed eight youngsters from their pre-season tour with plans to send them out on loan.
Among the eight young players who returned to Cobham from Ireland include Lewis Baker, Izzy Brown and Lucas Piazon, as well as Trevor Chalobah, Dujon Sterling, Ike Ugbo, Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi. The club, under new boss Frank Lampard is preparing for the new season as it kicked off its pre-season campaign against Irish side Bohemians. All the eight players featured in the friendly as the Blues settled for a 1-1 draw. Lampard slammed his side’s fitness, with six of the eight players were out on loan last season.
Baker impressed on loan at Reading, while Brown only made two appearances in all competitions for Leeds due to injury and Brazil youth international Piazon was relegated with Serie A side Chievo Verona. Chalobah played on loan for Ipswich, Sterling for Coventry and Ugbo for Scunthorpe, while Gallagher and Guehi played in the U23 side - all five have been called up to England's U20 team.
