Manchester United are set to make a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen after his move to Real Madrid broke down, according to SportsMail.
Eden Hazard's £130million capture by Madrid means that Eriksen is no longer of interest to the club. and Zinedine Zidane wants Paul Pogba to join Hazard, meaning no place for Eriksen in his squad; a move that has put United on alert.
Eriksen has become a crucial player for Spurs since joining from Ajax for £11m in 2013, but his sale could finance the significant rebuilding of the squad.
Eriksen has also suggested he is ready for a new challenge away from north London. He said: 'I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham, nor will it be negative. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.
'I hope there will be clarification during the summer. That's the plan. In football, you do not know when a clarification comes. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football takes things of time.
'It depends on Daniel Levy, and another club has to come. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. You can't set a date yourself.'
