Chelsea had approximately 41 players out on loan during the 2018/19 season, and have endured heavy criticism for not awarding young players sufficient game time, compared to the other clubs in the Premier League.
However, with a transfer ban this summer the following five young players could have a chance to shine at Stamford Bridge in the 2019/20 season.
Abraham had a successful loan spell at Bristol City in the 2016/17 season having scored 23 goals. However, he was followed with a disappointing season at Swansea in the Premier League. Nonetheless, the youngster found his form with 25 goals this season for Aston Villa, inspiring them with a fine return to the Premier League.
Finishing with the second most goals in the Championship, he may have finally done enough to earn a chance at Chelsea.
Chelsea have been looking for an heir to the striker's position since Didier Drogba, and with a transfer ban looming, Gonzalo Higuain failing to produce, and Oliver Giroud never a long term option, Abraham now may get his chance to break the No. 9 curse at Chelsea.
Mount has had a rather impressive season at Derby County with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard at the helm, tallying 11 goals in 44 appearances respectively. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is nursing an injury with Mateo Kovacic's loan deal not being made permanent, Chelsea are left with Ross Barkley as the only option in the midfield. Mount could provide the creativity that the Blues are lacking considering the fact that they've lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
The EFL Team of the Season nominee saw himself having a successful season at Wigan scoring three goals. However, James might not see himself starting next season with Chelsea's captain Cesar Azplicueta remaining solid in his first-team spot. With James being named Wigan's Player of the Season, he is certainly a strong contender to challenge Azplicueta next season.
Zouma managed to prove himself at Everton last season after an unsuccessful loan spell at Stoke City. Luck could be on his side as he might get the opportunity to shine for the first team in the 2019/20 campaign. The defender has received his call up to the French national team which he will go into the squad with plentiful Premier League experience. The youngster may be the source to Chelsea's shaky defence that has seen them have a questionable 2018/19 season.
Tomori saw himself winning the Derby County Player of the Season accolade in 2018. Despite struggling to get adequate game time at Chelsea, pre-season might be the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his talent due to the fact that Antoni Rudiger is still injured.
