Edinson Cavani aiming for Copa America success with Uruguay
Following their 4-0 demolition of Ecuador in their opening Copa America encounter, Edinson Cavani has revealed that Uruguay is aiming for the title.
Nicolas Lodeiro opened the scoring for Uruguay in the sixth minute while Cavani doubled their lead three minutes after the half-hour mark as Barcelona forward Luis Suarez rounded off the first half with a goal in the 44th minute. Arturo Mina's own goal was the final nail in Ecuador's coffin with Jose Quintero being sent off in the 24th minute.
Cavani, who scored his first Copa goal after 11 matches, noted that Uruguay are aiming for the title, "We are ready to fight in the Copa America. We had chances in the first half, we could do it and that gave us the calm to handle the game. It was an important step.
"We knew they were going to be a very difficult opponent. The important thing was that we entered the game with maximum concentration and we achieved that."
15-time champions Uruguay are seeking their first title since 2011.
