Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has heaped praise on his English teammate Raheem Sterling, calling him an 'inspiration' to young players.
The Manchester City player was on Sunday voted the 2019 Young Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers' Association, garnering 62 per cent of the total votes cast.
"He is an inspiration to a lot of youngsters, especially because he is from London and I am from London," he said while speaking to Sky Sports.
"I am sure every youngster from London will look up to him and probably (try) to be like him and win big awards like that one day."
Sterling has been in sensational form for both club and country this season, having found the net 29 times in one of his best seasons in professional football.
He has, in particular, helped City's push to defend their Premier League title, and was instrumental as they beat Chelsea in the final of the Carabao Cup.
The Englishman was in the running to be named PFA Player of the Year but lost narrowly to Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk.
Sterling, however, has the chance to end his season with both the EPL title as well as the FA Cup, having made it to the final where they will face Watford.
