Rahman impresses on debut for Stade Reims
Baba Abdul Rahman made his official debut for Stade Reims in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday, February 17 in their 2-0 win over Stade Rennes.
Rahman who initially joined the side on loan from Chelsea during the winter transfer window lasted the entire game as the hosts made their way to a victorious night.
The centre-back made his first competitive appearance after 68 days and was tipped impressive for a player who had lacked extensive game time.
The 24-year-old left Schalke after a disappointing second loan spell with the Royal Blues, where he last played a competitive game for the club in the champions’ league against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Just two minutes into the game, Stade Reims took the lead through forward Boulaye Dia after a brilliant display.
Dia's strike partner Remi Oudin doubled the lead in the second half with a left-footed power shot in the 68th minute.
The win sends Stade Reims to seventh on the table ahead of OGC Nice with 38 points in 25 games.
Baba Rahman will be expected to make the trip to Montpellier next Sunday after what was deemed an impressive debut.
