YOU CAN LEAVE: Arsenal yet to offer want-out new deal
Mesut Ozil remains open to staying at Arsenal but is keeping all options on the table as the club have yet to re-open contract talks with the playmaker, a source told ESPN FC.
Ozil and fellow star Alexis Sanchez could both leave the club on free transfers next summer when their current deals expire, with negotiations having been shelved this spring amid the uncertainty surrounding Arsene Wenger's future.
Those negotiations have yet to resume, and a source says that Turkish reports claiming Arsenal had held "positive" talks with Ozil's agent were incorrect.
But while Arsenal have yet to make a concrete offer amid reported interest from clubs like Manchester United, Ozil hasn't ruled out extending his contract with the Gunners, the source said. However, his decision could depend on whether the team proves to be a genuine Premier League title contender this season.
Ozil has repeatedly insisted he is happy in London, where he recently bought a new house, but has also called on Wenger to buy reinforcements in the past.
Arsenal are currently six points off the Premier League leaders after signing just two players this summer -- striker Alexandre Lacazette and left-back Sead Kolasinac.
Ozil's attitude and work ethic have been questioned this season after a poor start to the season was followed by an injury layoff with a knee inflammation.
The Germany international is expected to be available against Watford on Saturday, however, although it's unlikely that Wenger will put him straight back into the starting line-up.
