Chelsea land Exeter defender
Sky Bet League Club Exeter has officially confirmed that their highly rated 16-year-old teenage defender Ethan Ampadu has agreed to make a switch to the Premier League Champions Chelsea.
The Welsh wonder kid who was thrust into the international limelight during the Euro 2016, became Exeter’s youngest player to debut surpassing Cliff Bastin’s record of 15 years, 10 months and 26 days after being given his chance during last season’s League Cup match against Brentford. He went on to make a total of 13 appearances for the first team.
On the club’s website, the manager Paul Tisdale said - Everyone at the club is proud and fully supports the decision that has been arrived at and that they wish him well through his footballing development at Chelsea. He has various options to choose from but he settles for Chelsea since he believed it offered him great opportunity to develop himself.
Despite, the transfer the club is set to benefit only from the compensation fee since Ethan Ampadu had yet to complete signing scholarship forms at St. James Park, but the club remains optimistic that a deal can be agreed in an amicable manner without having to go through the Tribunal.
