Desperately looking for positives

Desperately looking for positives

After a day like yesterday and results like those, I am really desperately trying to look for any sort of positives to pick out of the way the day ended.

And no, I was not stood up by a girl; I was let down by a set of KPL results.

So as things stand, Nairobi City Stars will be a second tier side next season. Well, that has been coming for a number of years now hasn't it?

Look, we did not play bad versus Sofapaka, but we could as well have ended up on the back of a crushing defeat had it not been for poor finishing from the current league leaders.

And after watching KCB predictably beat Ulinzi Stars, maybe it was just meant to be... Just maybe.

Here is my view.

This year, the City Stars have their work cut out not because their fixtures are abnormally bad but because they have really let themselves down.

In previous years, you could look for optimism in Jimmy Bageya or another player who could do something but right now, it is hard to see where that spark will come from.

We also have the experience of fighting relegation but I just feel that this season, we have strung ourselves too far down the line.

I want us to stay up truly, but what will we offer the league next season? And also, is there a set of players ready to knuckle down and produce results?

I do not know and really I do not think, but at the end of it all, this is football. This is the game we love. Things do happen.

City Stars really need them to.
