🔴BREAKING: Manchester United keeper Sergio Romero involved in car crash

Manchester United's Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been involved in a car accident on his way to training on Monday morning.

The crash happened on the Carrington Spur Road through Ashton, not far from the Reds' training ground with the player escaping unhurt.

A video posted on Twitter by a passer shows Romero's £170,000 Lamborghini smashed up and under the roadside barrier, facing towards trees.

The 32-year old who was an unused substitute in their 2-0 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield is seen talking to someone just beside his crashed car with United yet to release an official statement on the incident.

Romero has acted as United's back-up goalkeeper in the Premier League this season to David de Gea and is yet to feature in the league this season but has played in four of United's Europa League matches, plus three times in the League Cup and in each of their FA Cup third-round clashes against Wolves.

The Argentina international is believed to have bought the car back in 2017 shortly after United defeated Southampton to win the League Cup at Wembley.

Romero joined United in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer from Sampdoria, penning a three-year deal at Old Trafford.
