Moaning about the absence of club football does not really change anything. So why not just look forward to this week’s international friendlies in Africa?

The set menu features the likes of Kenya, Brazil, Nigeria, South Africa and Senegal.

With the AFCON 2021 qualifiers only kicking off in November, this weekend’s FIFA international break has to be utilized. Thus associations have organized various friendlies to be enjoyed around the continent between Thursday and Sunday.

Besides, coaches need time and opportunities to work out combinations ahead of the crunch AFCON 2021 & World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Here are eight games to follow…

Algeria vs Dr. Congo

  • When: Thursday 10 October
  • Where: Blida, Algeria
  • Why: Algeria are African champions and in DR Congo face the continent’s top 10 sides.

Morocco vs Libya

  • When: Friday 10 October
  • Where: Oujda, Morocco
  • Why: Morocco are Libya’s successful and consistently prospering neighbour.

Tunisia vs Cameroon

  • When: Saturday 12 October
  • Where: Radès, Tunisia
  • Why: Both sides are starting life under new coaching regimes. A heavyweight fixture to set the tone.

Brazil vs Senegal

  • When: Thursday 10 October
  • Where: Kallang, Singapore.
  • Why: Well, it’s Brazil and Africa’s number one national football team.

Kenya vs Mozambique

  • When: Sunday 13 October
  • Where: Nairobi, Kenya
  • Why: Harambee Stars’ new coach Francis Kimanzi to show glimpses of what he’ll offer in his third stint.

South Africa vs Mali

  • When: Sunday 13 October
  • Where: Port Elizabeth, South Africa
  • Why: SA’s new inexperienced coach Molefi Ntseki has an early chance to silence his doubters.

Brazil vs Nigeria

  • When: Sunday 13 October
  • Where: Kallang, Singapore.
  • Why: The world’s best footballing nation against what many believe is Africa’s best.
