The Warriors have accepted a consecutive AFCON group stage exit after enduring the same result at AFCON 2017.
Needing a win after earning just one point in the opening two games, Sunday Chidzambwa’s side completely folded in a 0-4 loss to DR Congo last night.
Chidzambwa has said last night’s episode is one evening to forget. “We have had a very bad day in office, we didn’t play well in all the departments,” he told Zimeye.
“We also had to change the goalkeeper because our first choice got injured, but it’s not an excuse as we played badly and conceded soft goals.
The Warriors went into the break trailing 2-0, and instead of a needed response and fight back in the second half, two more goals from Congo buried Zimbabwe's last 16 dream.
“It was a bad performance on our part in all departments, and I think we need to go home and find a way forward,” he concluded.
