Nigerian winger excited to join Steven Gerrard at Rangers from Liverpool
Nigerian winger Sheyi Ojo is excited to join manager Steven Gerrard at Scottish club Rangers, from Liverpool.
Ojo revealed that a shopping trip in Glasgow convinced him his switch to Rangers was the right move.
The 21-year-old becomes boss Gerrard 's fifth signing of the summer after agreeing a one-year loan deal from Liverpool and has already been mobbed by well-wishers.
Ojo , who has had loan spells at Wigan Athletic, Wolves, Fulham and Reims, admits the time is now for him to make the grade and believes Rangers are the perfect club to fulfil his potential.
"I'm really excited, obviously my first impression around the training ground, seeing all the players and I feel really settled in and I'm ready to go," he told Rangers TV.
"The last 18 months to two years I've not really had that consistent opportunity of football, and when I heard Rangers were involved, I spoke to my representative, the gaffer Steven Gerrard and I spoke to Liverpool as well.
"I think all the parties thought this was the right destination for me and my career this season.
"I've only been here a couple of days and I went to the shops yesterday, I was just sorting out my apartment and people were saying to me, 'Good luck for this season'.
"I feel like a part of it already and it's the best initial feeling I've had of all the clubs I've been at on loan. I have a really good sense that it's going to be a really good season."
The former MK Dons youth player also said there was interest from several other teams, but after chats to Rangers goalkeeper Andy Firth and ex-Liverpool loanee Ovie Ejaria he knew it was the right place to go.
