Liverpool's passionate supporters played a role in convincing Virgil van Dijk to join the club, the defender has revealed.
The Dutchman joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 for a reported £75 million to become the world's most expensive defender.
And Van Dijk, who was named PFA player of the season, says his main reason for joining Jurgen Klopp's team was because of their passionate fans.
"I kept working hard and I always believed in myself. And the fans at Celtic are amazing. They live and die for their club," the 27-year-old told The Guardian when asked about his time with the Scottish giants.
That’s something I love – real fans, real passion. It’s why I also made the decision to come to Liverpool.”
Van Dijk maintains Liverpool are going to give it their all in next month's Champions League final against Tottenham.
